Benefits

An FCE offers numerous benefits for physicians, employers, physical therapists, attorneys, and insurers.

• Reduces the client’s time off from work, decreasing disability payments
• Eliminates second-guessing in physician’s decision to return the patient to work
• Provides objective data when physicians or employers suspect self-inflicted limitations or malingering
• Provides accurate data through therapist-controlled testing
• Typically provides test results within one week of referral, depending on the complexity of the case
• Offers direct, custom results – insurers exclusively work with therapists to order the proper exam and determine the testing schedules and results needed

Many national insurers including CIGNA exclusively use WorkWell FCE. In Hawaii, insurers often send clients to Angaran RE-Habilitation in Oahu from the outer islands – based on the exam’s national reputation for providing factual, impartial, and effective data.

Referrals

Physicians, case workers, vocational specialists, physical therapists, attorneys, insurers, and employers can all refer the client to an FCE. In Hawaii, physical therapists are permitted to evaluate clients without a physician referral.
